MedCertify’s Pharmacy Technician program teaches the knowledge and skills needed to be an integral part of pharmacy practice. Skills learned through the online program include:
- How to handle medication
- Processing medication orders
- Billing, reimbursement, and inventory management
- Sterile and non-sterile medication compounding
- Medication Safety
- The technology associated with pharmacy offices
- Regulations and quality assurance
As a pharmacy technician, your role is to assist the office’s pharmacists, interact with customers, and comply with FDA policies. Pharmacy technicians work in retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, clinical pharmacies, home health care pharmacies, mail-order pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies.
Students will have the option to complete an observation/externship to get more hands-on skills for their new career. If the student chooses to accept their observation/externship it requires the following:
- At least 40 hours of Observation or Externship.
- Must be under the direct supervision of Clinic, Pharmacy or Healthcare facility.
- Obtain experience in both the Clinical and Administrative areas during their observation/externship period.
Observation/Externship is optional and not guaranteed, Specific requirements are mandatory to participate in observation/externship.

The Nationally Registered Certified Pharmacy Technician (NRCPhT) designation demonstrates to employers that certified individuals have the administrative and clinical knowledge to assist pharmacists in health care settings.
