Medical Mental Health Technician Certification Prep Program

The mental health technician’s primary job responsibilities is to provide care and assistance to patients with mental health issues. Tasks mainly revolve around administering scheduled and prescribed medication, monitoring vital signs, assisting during therapy sessions, and assessing patients’ progress and behavior. They may also have administrative support tasks such as processing necessary

Course Overview

Health Psychology Fundamentals
This instructor-led/online course will provide knowledge and skills for treatment plans for patients in a
medical or psychiatric facility. Students will learn and understand the process and procedures for mental
health patients in all phases of psychological development, mental illnesses and treatments.

Medical Mental Health Skills
This course teaches the student pharmacology, safety and infection control, and law and ethics. Students
will learn to recognize medical emergencies and have skills to assist and execute CPR and first aid.
Students will learn how to care for mentally impaired and emotionally disturbed individuals by; taking vital
signs, issuing medications, documenting and maintaining patient records.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program offers scholarships to certain dislocated workers in the United States. Adults that have been terminated or laid off (including self-employed), eligible for or exhausted unemployment income and unlikely to return to industry or occupation are eligible for this scholarship.
