MAA with B&C and EHR Overview

Medical Administrative Assistant

A Medical Administration Assistant can perform the duties needed to run the front office of a doctor’s or other medical facilities. It is a significant role in the healthcare industry! This certification training program will prepare you to work in this rapidly growing industry and help secure a better career for you and your family. Upon completion of the program and earning the certification, you will be eligible to apply for a wide variety of jobs such as patient services representative/care coordinator, medical office administration/specialist, medical secretary, medical receptionist, medical billing specialist, and more. The estimated salary ranges from $28,490 to $41,460, and can be higher for experienced employees.

Billing & Coding

Medical coding and billing specialists review patient medical records and assign codes to diagnoses and procedures performed. The codes are then used to bill insurance and other third-party payers (such as Medicare or Medicaid) as well as the patient. Most medical coding and billing jobs require professionals to work on-site for hospitals, clinics, physicians, and a variety of other healthcare facilities.

Electronic Health Records

The Healthcare employee with training in Electronic Health Records Specialists performs routine clerical and organizational tasks. EHR will become the primary means of documenting, transmitting, and securing patient information. A basic knowledge of medical terminology, electronic health records, and hospital or laboratory procedures is preferred. The nation is entering a new era of health care where providers must use electronic health records to improve patients’ health and the way health care is delivered in this country. Healthcare employees with EHR training may find employment in hospitals, chiropractors, medical and dental offices.

This software is be used by medical students to develop practical skills and knowledge in managing patient records, scheduling appointments, billing, coding, and other administrative tasks.

Using this software can provide several benefits to students, such as:

  1. Practical Experience: Medical students can use this software to gain practical experience in managing a medical office without the need for real-life patients. This experience can help them become more confident and efficient in their future medical careers.

  2. Time Management: The software can help students learn how to manage their time effectively and prioritize tasks based on urgency.

  3. Accuracy: The software can help students learn how to accurately record and manage patient information, ensuring that records are up-to-date and error-free.

  4. Cost-effective: The use of simulation software can be a cost-effective way to provide medical training without the need for expensive equipment or facilities.

  5. Self-Paced Learning: Students can learn at their own pace and can repeat activities until they feel confident in their skills.

Overall, MOSS can provide medical students with practical experience in managing a medical office. It can help them develop essential skills such as time management, accuracy, and patient record management, which can be valuable in their future medical careers. Each of our program offers different MOSS simulations that are relevant to the program they are completing.
