Student Spotlight

Josefa Pia Kahl

When I applied for the program, I was 8-9 months pregnant, living in Korea, and also getting ready to move back to the US. My entry into the program came at such a busy time but I couldn’t waste time and let the opportunity slip. MedCertify, however, afforded me a generous leave of absence so I could find the time to enjoy my newborn, fly halfway across the world, and get settled into our new home.

I’m proud of how I managed to power through this program while simultaneously managing our household, taking care of our home, and our newborn. It definitely wasn’t easy and 80% of the time I felt overwhelmed and filled with anxiety. I hadn’t been in school in such a long time and, with all my other responsibilities, I was doubting myself. But I made it to the end and I know it’s because of my hard-work and as well as the support I received from my husband and my MedCertify instructors.
I’m looking forward to taking it wherever we end up going 2 years from now. Being a military family, we move a lot. I’m excited to have a career that can travel with me and I’m confident that I’ll be successful at it.
The best case scenario is finding a remote position. Extra points if it can offer me longevity where I can keep my employment through/after another military move. Realistically, I want an opportunity to start practicing/using everything I’ve learned.
